Ready, set, REGISTER and run! Fountain of Youth Pursuit is Saturday, Aug. 17!
Tsalteshi Trails’ inaugural 10k Fountain of Youth Pursuit run is this Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. at the trails behind Skyview High School. Don’t miss your chance to be involved in the first pursuit run (that we know of) in Alaska! Runners are assigned staggered start times according to their age and gender, with kids and older runners given head starts. It’s up to the 20-year-old guys to try to catch up. First across the finish line wins! This unique format means that any runner, of any age has an equal chance at a winning placement.
But to get your head start, you must REGISTER IN ADVANCE! All day-of-race signups will be seeded in the last wave to leave the starting line. Advance registration closes at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16. If you want to run with a friend or group of different ages, that’s fine, too — we’ll seed you in the last wave and you can enjoy a noncompetitive jaunt through the woods. All running is fun running!
Plus! We’ve got free T-shirts for current Tsalteshi Trails Association members (nonmembers can buy a shirt for $20, or become a member on the Tsalteshi website to get a free shirt.) And we’ve got awesome monetary Prizes for the top five finishers, and a raffle drawing grand prize open to all participants.
Salmon Run Series participants, consider this your graduate achievement for all the 5Ks you ran this summer!
Lost Lake runners, this is the perfect tune-up for your event the next weekend!
Fall marathoners and half marathoners, this is a great mid-distance training run!
Everybody — want to stay young and have fun? Then come run!
Register and check your headstart at https://www.tsalteshi.org/?page_id=5&ee=94. The race starts at the Skyview High School trailhead. Registration/bib pick up begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the first wave starts at 10 a.m. Online registration is $25. This is a fundraiser for Tsalteshi Trails Association, to help us maintain the trails, facilitate youth and school running and skiing programs, and hold community events year-round. Don’t want to run but want to be involved? Come volunteer! We’ll need lots of help to keep everything — and everyone — running smoothly. Sign up to volunteer by emailing tsalteshi@yahoo.com.
Hope to see you all — young and young at heart — on the trails!
