Tsalteshi Tree Ski 2025

The Tsalteshi Tree Ski returns — help us fancy up the forest! Great for families, friends, teams, organizations or businesses — help us decorate trees along the Moose Loop, and feel free to add a sign advertising yourself! Choose any tree you like along Moose and decorate it however you wish. We don't have power available (we're working on it for the future), but there are trail lights along the Moose Loop. Anything reflective/sparkly, big and colorful stands out. Glass, fabric, white or silver decorations aren't recommended. Decorations need to be up by Dec. 27. Decorators can ski or snowshoe out to Moose and walk on the groomed trail surface as needed to decorate. Bringing a sled is a great way to haul decorations. A long pole with a hook…

K-Beach community meeting Oct. 10

All residents of the K-Beach Road community (outside the city limits of Kenai and Soldotna) are invited to a community meeting to weigh in on funding under the state of Alaska Community Assistance Program. CAP funding is divided between qualified nonprofits (including Tsalteshi) located in the K-Beach area, based in part on community feedback. Join us at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, 33955 Community College Drive off K-Beach Road, to have a say in how funding is divided. It's a quick meeting but has a big impact in the K-Beach area.

Tsalteshi Backyard Ultra

Events

The 2025 Tsalteshi Backyard Ultra starts at 5 p.m. June 6 in the parking lot of the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. Complete a 4.167-mile loop an hour, every hour, for as many laps as you can complete. The last runner to complete the loop in an hour wins. Only runner 50 slots are available. Outdoor yoga

Events

Certified yoga instructor Giselle Lambert offers a friendly flow yoga class for the community, suitable for all levels, beginner through advanced. Sessions meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays in June at the Skyview Trailhead of Tsalteshi Trails in Soldotna. Bring your own yoga mat or towel. Registration is not necessary. A free will donation to support Tsalteshi youth programs will be collected. More information is available at www.tsalteshi.org/events.

Salmon Run Series

Events

The Kenai Watershed Forum’s annual Salmon Run Series is back! Run or walk a 5K course at Tsalteshi every Wednesday, July 9-Aug. 6. Courses get progressively more challenging week to week, with week five repeating week one’s course so you can see how far you’ve come! Registration will open soon at www.kenaiwatershed.org.

Hit the Trails summer events

Events

Join Tsalteshi Trails Association for summer activities designed to get everyone out on the trails! Events are free and open to the public. Get familiar with the trails, meet other trail users and learn a thing or two in the process. Most events last about an hour. Dress for the weather and bring your bug deterrent of choice. Soldotna Cycle Series

Events

Join the best biker gang around for our annual mountain bike race series! The Soldotna Cycle Series will be every Thursday night, July 10-Aug. 7. Races are open and welcoming to all. Come join us for a friendly, competitive-as-you-make-it bike series with fun new courses week to week to get to know the trails. Cap the season with the Tsalteshi Gauntlet on Aug. 24! The Gauntlet is a courseless, self-navigated race with checkpoints in the form of old paperbacks spread throughout the trails. Ride in groups, socially or alone. However you roll, the Gauntlet will test your endurance, your wits and your ability to navigate on the trails. Registration for our summer bike events is open now here.

Trail conditions as of April 26, 2025: Welcome to the weird world of weather! We were still skiing at the end of April last year. This year? The trees are budding, the ground is rapidly thawing and a pair of mallards have claimed the pond off Coyote. It won’t be long before the trails are ready for summer! Some trails are drying faster than others. Here’s a rundown of what to expect if you head to Tsalteshi: Singletrack trails are closed. Our STX maintenance crew is heading out Monday to evaluate conditions. They’ll likely open in a week or two. All main trails are open to foot traffic, fat-tire bikes and dogs.
