Hit the Trails, summer weekly events

Events
Join Tsalteshi every Monday this summer at 6 p.m., June 26-Aug. 28, for weekly guided hikes, workshops and informational topics. If you've ever wanted to get to know the trails but don't want to explore alone, this is your chance! Get to know the trails, other trail users and maybe even a thing or two about nature. Events are free and open to the public. No registration required, just meet us at 6 p.m. on the trails. Hikes last about an hour (though you're free to leave anytime). Dress for the weather and wear comfortable footwear for walking. We'll bring bear spray and bug spray (but you might want to bring your own... the mosquitoes are getting voracious!) June 26 — Slikok Trails trash pickup. Our beloved eagles keep bringing…

Tsalteshi survey results

TTA Board of Directors
Full survey results here: TTA survey spring 2023 Thank you!!!! To everyone who filled out our survey, we appreciate learning more about our trail users and the improvements they’d like to see to Tsalteshi Trails. Our Board of Directors is reviewing the results and will factor your responses into decisions in the months and years to come.   For now, we can answer a few of the questions/suggestions/responses:   E-Bikes: Class 1 (pedal-assist) e-bikes ARE allowed on the trails. The TTA Board felt that allowing e-bikes was a way to increase accessibility on the trails. Come ride and enjoy! (Note: Class 1 ONLY are allowed, not Class 2 or 3.)   Winter grooming app: For the 32 people who said they didn’t know we have a winter grooming app, sorry we didn’t…

2023 Youth Ski program update

2023 Youth Ski program update

Youth Ski Program
Join us in thinking snowy thoughts! The 2023 Tsalteshi Trails Youth Ski Program is right around the corner. There are some important changes this year: We’re adding paid assistant coaches to the program this year. That means every group will have a minimum of two adults (extra volunteers are welcome!) to work with the kids. We’re excited about the opportunity to provide extra instruction, but it does mean we need more coaches. Please consider coaching! Parents are welcome, and you do not have to be an expert skier to be an assistant coach. We’ll provide a training session at the beginning of the season, and helping coach is a great way to improve your own ski skills. Head coaches will plan lessons and take the lead on teaching skills. Assistants…

Maintenance building

Maintenance building

Maintenance/grooming
What’s going on above the tennis courts?!? Tsalteshi is breaking ground on a long-time dream come true — a maintenance building that can hold all our equipment! If you’ve ever seen the groomers have to precision park the snowmachines to fit them in the existing shed or watched them move two just to get to one in the middle, you know why this is so needed. Thanks to a Recreational Trails Program grant through Alaska State Parks and local support, we’re constructing a 36-by-60-foot building that will provide secure, weatherized storage for all our machinery. No more having to leave equipment outside! No more having to tow off machines for minor repairs! No more having to juggle equipment between a shed, a Connex and a lean-to! The project will include…
