2026 Tour of Tsalteshi

The eighth annual Tour of Tsalteshi is Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026, at the trailhead behind Skyview Middle School. A 40-kilometer freestyle race — two laps around the trails — starts at 11:30 a.m. A 20-kilometer race — one lap around the trails, with freestyle and classic divisions — starts shortly thereafter. A 20-kilometer fat-tire bike event, in partnership with Cook Inletkeeper, starts at 2 p.m. Or do a double tour — 20K ski and 20K fat bike! Prizes will be awarded for the first three men and women finishers in each race and raffle drawings will be available to all participants. Improve your skate skiing in one week!

Ski coach and SoHi alum Andy Liebner is looking for volunteers to participate in a skate ski research study. Bonus – free skate skiing instruction! The study is geared to adult skate skiers of all abilities.There are no costs or fees to participate. Participants will meet with Andy once a day Jan. 12-15 at the Skyview Trailhead. Participants will watch a series of skate technique instructions, practice the cues within the instructions, be video recorded when they're ready, then use a self-check scoresheet to grade themselves on any improvement. Tsalteshi Tree Ski 2025

The Tsalteshi Tree Ski returns — help us fancy up the forest! Great for families, friends, teams, organizations or businesses — help us decorate trees along the Moose Loop, and feel free to add a sign advertising yourself! Choose any tree you like along Moose and decorate it however you wish. We don't have power available (we're working on it for the future), but there are trail lights along the Moose Loop. Anything reflective/sparkly, big and colorful stands out. Glass, fabric, white or silver decorations aren't recommended. Decorations need to be up by Dec. 27. Decorators can ski or snowshoe out to Moose and walk on the groomed trail surface as needed to decorate. Bringing a sled is a great way to haul decorations. A long pole with a hook…

Tsalteshi Youth Ski registration is coming up Saturday, November 1 at 9am. Critter Crew registration will be Saturday, November 8 at 9am. We are still in need of a couple of head coaches for our younger groups as well as Critter Crew. If you have an interest in helping out, please contact Alicia at ttysp@tsalteshi.org. So many trees down…

We have a lot of trees down all over the trail system thanks to this big wind. We are working to clear them, and if you would like to help we would sure appreciate it! Brian is gathering a crew to clear tomorrow (Thursday, October 9) at 10am at the Tsalteshi Maintenance Building behind Skyview if you're interested in helping us have tree-free trails again!

K-Beach community meeting Oct. 10

All residents of the K-Beach Road community (outside the city limits of Kenai and Soldotna) are invited to a community meeting to weigh in on funding under the state of Alaska Community Assistance Program. CAP funding is divided between qualified nonprofits (including Tsalteshi) located in the K-Beach area, based in part on community feedback. Join us at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, 33955 Community College Drive off K-Beach Road, to have a say in how funding is divided. It's a quick meeting but has a big impact in the K-Beach area.

The Kenai Gear Swap is happening October 11 at Kenai Central High School - help the Kenai Nordic Ski Team by either donating items or purchasing some used gear. Drop off gear between 4-7pm on October 10 or between 8-10am on October 11. Sale starts at 10am. Gear goes quickly so get there early!
