There's a cow with two calves hanging out on Wolverine and she is cranky! She has already followed and charged someone out walking. Keep an eye and ear out for the family if you're in that area. If you see them, give mom lots of space! And dogs absolutely must be on a leash in that area. We don't want any people, dogs or moose to be injured. She will hopefully chill out as the babies get a little bigger, but not if she continues to be spooked by people, dogs or bikes. Let's let her get over the new-baby jitters in peace. The 2025 Tsalteshi Backyard Ultra starts at 5 p.m. June 6 in the parking lot of the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex. Complete a 4.167-mile loop an hour, every hour, for as many laps as you can complete. The last runner to complete the loop in an hour wins. Only runner 50 slots are available. Certified yoga instructor Giselle Lambert offers a friendly flow yoga class for the community, suitable for all levels, beginner through advanced. Sessions meet at 6 p.m. Thursdays in June at the Skyview Trailhead of Tsalteshi Trails in Soldotna. Bring your own yoga mat or towel. Registration is not necessary. The Kenai Watershed Forum’s annual Salmon Run Series is back! Run or walk a 5K course at Tsalteshi every Wednesday, July 9-Aug. 6. Courses get progressively more challenging week to week, with week five repeating week one’s course so you can see how far you’ve come! Registration will open soon at www.kenaiwatershed.org.
Join Tsalteshi Trails Association for summer activities designed to get everyone out on the trails! Events are free and open to the public. Get familiar with the trails, meet other trail users and learn a thing or two in the process. Most events last about an hour. Dress for the weather and bring your bug deterrent of choice.
